*I should have know it would come to this, that this would be how I end. I knew the risk of coming here and starting my cause. That they would notice, especially my lover, I didn’t think he care so much about one person missing. He didn’t care about the hundreds others, just this one. The one who failed, who gave up. I wish I could get to him first, to give him an end. I should be the one to give him final death, not others. They will do so not understanding all he went through, all he endured and had endured as a human. He had open up to me, we spoke of his life, I needed his trust to destroy and rebuild. Now it ends and he will meet a cruel fate as he has his whole life. For this I deeply regret.*
Stephan had gotten to his house to see the door open, he knew he was late. They likely sent the blood mage after him. He knew of the blood mage, his reputation. Now nothing more then a lacky, a dog for the council, so blind. Stephan slowly walks into the house quietly, it was dark. Screaming was heard from below, so that meant they hadn’t gotten to the priest down below. Maybe if he could at least distract them, he could hold off the blood mage and off the fledgling. Though he could leave now and just let them kill him. It was his fate either way, just he felt he must end it. He owed the priest that much. After everything he put him through, only to have them give up. It still bothered him, still upset him, angered him.
He crept slowly in the house, though the floors boards were old and creaked. Couldn’t be helped and he tried to be as cautious as he could. He heard the floor boards upstairs creak and that must be where the blood mage was. He could avoid that, so he just move to the cellar door. He just needed to finish off his fledgling and leave, he was sure Salazar would get him a ship to Spain fast. He just hated that he had to abandon this place, maybe he got cocky, maybe he should wait before placing a fledgling here.
As he reach the door, that’s when everything was a blur. When things focus he was on his back, dust settling about as he laid on wood that once made a wall. He slowly move to get up, having not seen the other or heard them. He saw the bastard, it was Zagine, well he handle his sire, he surely could handle this fledgling. As soon as he got up Zagine was on him, not giving him time to regroup or ground himself. He threw Stephan about, not only that but Zagine bore weapons to aid him. He made sure he had the upper hand, but that didn’t stop Stephan, he moved to attack back, sending the young vampire against a wall.
If not for the fact Stephan hadn’t eaten in a week, he likely not be able to hold up. Stephan had been mourning the failure in the cellar. Stephan was not unarmed though, he had his dagger, it could harm vampires. He had left several scarring marks on his fledgling below with it. So Stephan moved about in this dance of brute strength and slashed across Zagines nose and caught him in the up swing as well. When Zagine stumbled, it was Stephan turn to jump him. He beat on the young vampire and he likely win if not for the blood mage. Stahs had come down stairs once the second floor was clear of anyone or thing.
When he stop Stephan, Zagine grabbed the dagger and plunged it fast into Stephan heart. Stahs had shouted no, but the young vampire listen not. He jump up and headed to take care of the screaming thing below. Stahs looked at Stephan as he gasp and laid down once released from the hold. He looked at Stahs “I just wanted to erase my mistake.” he told him as he died. Stahs gave an odd look, he head down to make sure Zagine didn’t further fuck up the mission. He was suppose to bring Stephan alive to Sanderson and instead, he was going to have to explain it, he was going to have to explain a lot of things.
