Virus moved fast to the lobby and moved to the elevator and looks up it. The other two followed behind him, Wagner coming to a stop beside Virus. “Can you fly up the elevator shaft?” Wagner asked, glancing up the miles long elevator shaft and then back to Virus. Gears caught up a moment later carrying Mariel on his front as he shifted four sturdy wire tendrils with claw like appendages at the ends.
Mariel was breathing hard now, panic rising in his chest as he eyed the endless depths of the darkness above them. How far down were they? “I…I can’t,” he whispered again, either to the question about flying to just sort of everything in general.
Virus nods “yes” he told Wagner, grabbing the doctor as he would let his electrical wings pop out and he jump flying up the Shaft. Wagner gasped as Virus grabbed him and took flight. Gears followed behind him, using the wire arms to climb his way up the elevator shaft with Mariel in his arms.
They hadn’t been traveling very far before Mariel’s ring activated due to being too far from Azazel. His eyes widened as a jolt of pain lanced through him and he let out a strangled cry, desperately flapping his wings as he struggled to get out of Gears’ arms. “…g-go let go let go p-please let go please go go go..!” He babbled in an agonized panic as he struggled to get out of Gears grasp, the ring glowing with painful magic like molten steel.
“Shit! Stop wiggling!” Gears tried to move back down the elevator a bit. “You’ll break something if I drop you from this height!” He looked up, reaching to Virus. “The ring on this creature is causing the angel pain, can you get it off!?” He yelled up to Virus.
Flies up and then lands looking at the destroyed shake.”home.” He said sadly. He lost home so many times, he started to think it was the one thing he never have. He heard gears and raised a brow “ring?” He said confused.” Just take it off.” That was logic right?
The angel was screaming by now, and very clear agony as he tried desperately to get out of the arms that were holding him. He didn’t seem to care if he fell, or concerned about the promise of broken bones. Right now all he can do was think to get back to the demon, or at least close enough to stop the pain. “Can’t, I can’t, p-please, m-must go back, please,” he begged. “Saved you, th-that’s all, th-that’s enough. Please, please, beloved,” he asked turning his gaze to Wagner – he understood, right?
Wagner looked at Virus, feeling his sadness, a strange feeling. It had been his home for hundreds of years now. It was hard not to be attached. Gears shifted more wire arms to help support the angel as he reached to try to take the ring off his shaft. It didn’t move when he tried to pull it off, glowing with the magic that held it in place. “There’s some kind of spell on it!” He yelled back. He didn’t want to leave the angel here with the demon if he could help it.
Virus stared and sighs “we know magic but only one kind….” he huff.” We….can’t just let him have him” he then adds “knock him out. Till I can figure it out.” He told him. That was logic. Yep logic. He then looks to Wagner “Time to go back to the warehouse.” He turn to start walking.
Mariel was just full-on panicking because wouldn’t you, if you had a painful doom ring around your ding-a-ling? Knocking him out would prove to be as easy as anything, though he did keep pleading with Wagner to be released. Either way, he was to wracked with pain to do anything on his own. Gears did as Virus said, releasing his hold on the ring and instead giving the angel a calculated bonk to the head knocking him out and then dragging himself the rest of the way up the elevator shaft.
“You mean where I found you?” Wagner asked as he moved to walk with him. Nodding to Gears as the shapeshifter moved to keep up with him. Gears readjusted his grip on the angel to carry him with the wires he’d used to pull himself up the elevator shaft.
Virus nods “yes….. where you found me. Old home, only place we have that has lasted the longest.” He just sighs as he felt like he failed wagner and gears.
“We will go there then. It’s somewhere away from that demon.” Wagner said, staying close by Virus. Just happy that the three of them were together and away from Azazel.
“We can fortify the place, and we have the heart. When we get to the warehouse you should still put in Virus. He can help keep us safe when smiley comes looking.” Gears said as he carried Mariel, looking at Virus still worriedly as he sensed Virus feelings of having failed them.
Wagner and Gears walked in silence with him, it was hard not to be drawn into the grim feeling that came with leaving the lab and everything it had become to them behind. “I’m still glad you chose us… we love you.” Gears said softly, walking a little faster so he could walk beside Virus.
Virus stared straight ahead, this was a familiar walk. His eyes leaked those black tears. All he was missing was a fresh wound. He knew they were on a time limit too for wagner. They needed to get to the warehouse. Gears looked over at him, his heart breaking for the energy vampire as he saw the black tears that leaked from his eyes. His own eyes stung as tears welled at them, his chest feeling tight. Wagner looked to the other two, trying to appear reassuring, though he was sure it was hard to do with his still healing mouth and face. Virus just walked, he was heading to a specific place. He wanted something, had to have some win. To feel he was good enough. He couldn’t let it go. Wagner led them inside, this was the first time he’d seen the inside through more than a crack in the boards. Gears carried Mariel to a clear spot in the floor and eased him down, checking him over. If he was in pain still he couldn’t tell.
