Bex flew above the woods. He could feel his underbelly coated with Stahs’ blood. Holding the vampire carefully in his arms so as not to drop him or cause further damage. They just had to get home and everything would be okay.
As Kal moved deeper into the woods there were more signs of movement – broken branches, trampled earth. Why would any path in the woods in the middle of nowhere be quite so well-used? He had a hunch. Yet so far all of the signs of life that he’d seen had been older, there was nobody actually -out- here. Curious.
Kal might make out the droning buzz of Bex’s wings as he flew above the canopy. Bex stared straight ahead as he flew, determined to make it back, Indigo would know what to do.
At the sound of buzzing his head snapped up, tilting to peer at the figure – well those were familiar. One of them was, at least. And since they were flying towarrds the Manor and not away, he could guess who the one with the wings were. Hm. They would make it back to the manor before he could, at any rate. He turned forward again then and continued into the woods towards where they had been flying from; either he could see if they were being chased, or ensure anyone they’d rendered unconscious in their escape remained that way for a while.
Bex flew as fast as his wings could carry him. He was exhausted after all the torture and fighting but he pressed on, feeling a bit of relief when the manor came into view in the horizon. Bex powered his way through the remaining distance, the buzz of his wings loud like the landing of a helicopter as he descended and set his feet on the ground. He shifted back to his humanoid form, readjusting his grip on Stahs’ cold still body, his face a torrential mix of emotions as he carried him up the steps to the front door. Stahs still limp and didn’t move, that eye was just god aweful to even look at. Indigo was moving past the parlor for the door, he was over it.
The shifters in the parlor watched Indigo, confused by him seeming to be very much on his way to leave. Before Indigo could reach the door Bex fumbled it open with a blood covered hand, looking relieved as he saw Indigo. “Indi, thank god, Stahs is hurt bad. What do I do?” He said in a rush as he stood there wearing only Stahs’ blood.
Indigo stood there staring at Bex. Flash backs to when tristen found Stahs after Carmella tried to kill him. He stared hard at then and then said “pff stick him in a coffin and pray he makes a miracle awakening like before. Maybe in another 150 years after half of who you care for die.” With that he move to walk by Bex to go out the door, feeling hurt and bitter.
Bex’s eyes practically bulged out of his head at Indigo’s words. He wasn’t going to help? “Wh-what?! You can’t be serious! You’re not going to help?!” He yelled hoarsely as Indigo went to move past him, his voice cracking from the strain. The other shifters were staring, looking between Bex and Indigo in stunned silence.
Indigo stops and looked to Bex “Stahs never cares…not truly for the ones he claims are close to him. Im not going to watch him die because once again he chose to help everyone but his own fledglings…..he couldn’t be there for me….why should i for him?”
“Wh-what are you talking about…?” Bex asked, “Listen, I don’t know what happened while I was gone but fuck I- you clearly care about him a great deal. He probably won’t die but I- I’m just trying to hold it together and take care of him cause if I do anything else I’m gonna lose my shit.” Bex rambled, not really knowing if anything he said could make Indigo stay.
Dorian came into the parlor with a sucker in his mouth, because that’s how he rolled. He looked back and forth among all companies present, blinked a few slow times, and then ssssslowly turned on his heel to leave. Not his circus, not his monkeys.
Indigo stared at him, he saw Dorian. Arching a brow and then says “I’m not Stahs…” he was just unable to handle this again. He would turn “your problem…he chose all of you over his own…he has to lie in this one.” With that he walked out the door. He was more then likely going to the pub and sulk a moment, really think on what he wants to do now.
Bex watched him, feeling his heart sink at his words. He watched him go, staring almost numbly. He tried to think as he pushed the door closed with his foot. When Nine was poisoned Voltaire had suggested a bloodbath. He prayed that would work in this case as he turned to the others. “Go get all the blood in the fridge and bring it up to Stahs’ room as fast as you can.” He ordered, beginning the walk up to Stahs room. He couldn’t let himself break. Not now.
