“I’m so glad you agreed to come with me. Such a long walk and I find such can be more enjoyable with another.” Father Voltruist spoke while walking on such a lovely night.
“Yeah you also said Zagine was too busy to give a fuck. Besides there is a shop on this side of town I wanted to check out anyways.” Val mentions, barely paying the priest much mind.
Voltruist smiled a little as they continued walking. “What shop are you looking to check out? ” he ask.
Val arch a brow and looked around “What shop? Oh…uh…” glancing at each one before saying “oh um that sweet shop there.” He point.
Voltruist looks over and seem confused “But its closed.” He told him.
Val blinks and looks, cursing himself under his breath “Oh darn so it is. Well guess I’ll check it out another time. Lets get to that book shop before it close, so you can get that book Zagine ask for.”
Voltruist still seem confused, though he gave a small nod. “Very well. You know Indigo was the one who told me of this shop. He seems to visit it alot.” The priest tried to make small talk. He rather enjoyed Val company.
Val gave a nod, very aware of Indigo obsession on the bookshop. It was why he jump to go with the priest. A chance to see why Indigo was obsessed without making it obvious. Though Voltruist was just glad to have the walk, any other time he tried to get Val to spend time with him was met with excuses, to flat out no.
He wasn’t aware that Val only came to spy on the shop, he thought maybe Val was finally warming up to him. Especially with the obvious lie about wanting to see the sweet shop. Though Voltruist wouldn’t point out that he knew it was a lie. He thought maybe Val was shy about affection and such.
The two get to the shop, heading inside, the bell at the top of the door rings. Alerting the shop keeper, who was in the back. The man comes to the counter now “Greetings, how can I help you two?”
Voltruist move to the counter “Hello there, I’m looking for a book. ” he pulls out a piece of paper Zagine gave him.” I was wondering if you had it, I have heard you carry a great deal of books that most shops don’t have.” While the priest spoke, Val was eyeing the shop keep up and down.
The male arch a brow at Val, but smiled to Voltruist “I can check and even if I don’t have it, I can get it.” He assured him as he went to the wall that had books on a shelf. He kept his inventory count in them. “I don’t get many priest in here I will say.”
Voltruist gave a nod “Well glad to be a change of pace for you. Of course if you don’t have it, could I persuade you to rush that order? I’m willing to pay extra.” Voltruist glanced at Val seeing the concentrated look. Realizing now that Val goal was to come here. Not because he ask, but for other reasons. He look at the shop keep, staring him over and frown slightly.
The shop keep smiled still and spoke “Of course, I can put all my efforts to finding. It does seem I don’t have it father. However I should be able to find it no problem, I have a few sources. Perhaps I could deliver it to you.” He set a pen and paper down.” If you could jot down your adress.”
Voltruist look at the paper and gave a nod “Yes of course.” Writing down his church adress.
“Also a name if you be so kind so I can keep it on hold till delivered.” The shop keep smiled, but kept giving Val a side eye.
Voltruist nods and wrote his name down, before turning to leave, Val following him slowly. The priest stop “Could I have your name, so I can listen for it when you deliver the book?”
The shop keep still smiled “Of course, it Tristan.” He told him.
The two left the shop, heading back to their side of town. “I wish you were honest on your intentions Benjamin. I don’t like feeling a fool and tricked.” Voltruist spoke.
Val blinks a little “Look I’m sorry but you talk to much to Indi. I figure if i said why you tell him.”
Voltruist arch a brow “What does Indigo have to do with this?”
Val sighs “Indi been spending alot of time there, I wanted to see why. I know its mostly to do with getting books for Stahs, however he mentioned the shop keeper was sweet on him. I wanted to see and weigh how bad of a mess it will be.”
Voltruist realizing Val was looking out for Indigo did ease him a little. Glad to know Val wasn’t into the shop keep, but he was still upset at being used. “Could have just told me. Honestly you don’t have to lie and manipulate people to get them to help you. I would have willingly help you had you just ask me.” He explained to him.
Val stared at the priest “Right…uh sorry I suppose.” He told him.
Voltruist frown and just walked off in a different direction. Shaking his head as he took a different route home “One day you are going to end up alone Benjamin and I don’t think you will mind it at all.” He spoke to himself, feeling very hurt. What he thought was possibly of being seen, was actually just a nothing at all. Just a plan to spy on a book shop owner, by the name of Tristan.
